Classic AVON gorge trip
Marvel at the stunning scenery on Bristol's doorstep...
Join us for this exciting cruise down the magnificent Avon Gorge. With an entertaining and informative commentary throughout, there's no better way to see this historic entrance into the city. We take you down the harbour, starting at Brunel's SS Great Britain, through the historic gates and into the huge lock. As we emerge into the Avon Gorge there is plenty to see: The Rocks Railway and the old steamship dock, we sail underneath the amazing Clifton Suspension Bridge, Horseshoe Bend (a favorite spot for herons in the winter) and the Old Powder House (where trade ships deposited there gun powder before entering the city). You will pass the ancient port of Sea Mills and and the village of Pill where our first ferryboat 'Margaret' worked.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks are available on board but passengers are welcome to bring their own picnic.
WHERE: Boats trips start from the S.S. Great Britain. We travel as far as Pill or Avonmouth if the tide allows us.
DURATION: 3.5 or 2.5 hours
WHAT TO BRING: Warm clothes as even on a sunny day there can be a cool river breeze.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: Please note, this trip picks up at the SS Great Britain, if you have a wheelchair in your party and are unable to get out of your chair please give us a call in the office and we will organise a more appropriate pick up location for you! 0117 927 3416
