JOIN BRISTOL'S NATURALIST AND WILDLIFE EXPERT ED DREWITT
During this global public health crisis we recognise the great need and responsibility to limit social gatherings and all unnecessary travel. It is therefore with sadness that we have temporarily stopped running services. We do however look forward to welcoming customers back on the water as soon as we can safely do so.
Introducing our popular Gorge Trip with guest naturalist and wildlife expert Ed Drewitt to explore the Avon Gorge on this fascinating cruise.
It's the perfect way to spot wildlife, surrounded by the tree-covered valleys of Leigh Woods and the impressive rocky landscape of the Gorge. The rocks and cliffs tell a story of the past, from deep seas to sandy deserts, while some rare plants growing on them can only be found in the Avon Gorge.
Our wildlife trips provide a chance to see the world's fastest bird of prey, the peregrine falcon, which breeds in the Avon Gorge. We'll look out for feral goats in the gully, sleeping foxes and browsing deer on the riverbank and small wading birds such as redshanks, lapwings and common sandpipers scurrying across the mud.
During the spring, we often spot shelducks and oystercatchers while in autumn curlews, our larger wader, may be seen. Travelling by boat is ideal for sailing past nesting grey herons and spotting their young during April.
From ducks to deer and goats to songbirds - there's plenty to see, hear and enjoy along the gorge.
